as a person.

biography in a nutshell

i was born april 17, 1984. i grew up in los angeles, california. raised by a single mother that did all she could while working 2 jobs and without transportation in a rough neigborhood. times were hard but times were happy.

i'm the youngest of two sons. my brother jose is 6 years older than me. so, as a kid, we didn't hang out much. i think this is where it all started. i was left to my devices, toys, television, a nice combination of perception and imagination.

i love to create. love to write music and design. and (if time allows) craft.

i am very open minded and take advantage of seeing all points of view. i've taught myself a lot of what i know. because, as far back as i can remember, i've had to make do with what i had.

as web/graphic designer.

geeks can be cool too

in 2005 i started learning web design and graphic design from numerous website tutorials, books and design magazines. look at the example, follow the steps, hopefully it comes out right.

i did work for a company for about a year and a half before deciding to do the freelance dance. since i've started, i've worked with a nice bunch of people, getting their sites designed and launched!

from artists, musicians, photographers, across the spectum to realtors, lawyers, construction companies and doctors. (whew!)

i'm used to being a part of a design team but this time, i'm going solo baby! i felt that freelance would be a great opportunity for me to spread my creative wings and to really just throw myself into the mix of it all.

to grow and further my skills.

i use dreamweaver to code my sites, photoshop CS2 to design and a little bag of javascripts/tricks for some added flashiness. i do not code in flash actionscript.

 

as a photographer.

seeing things my way

taking pictures has just always been fun for me. whether it's super serious black+white, high contrast, make me look artsy or self-shot, point the camera at ourselves pictures of me and my friends.

i take digital pictures and use photoshop to edit, color enhance, crop, resize and all the other fun stuff to my pictures.

 

as a musician.

part indie. part rock. all awesome.

*sighs.. music.
it has always been my passion. ever since my mom got me a used guitar when i was 8 years old, i haven't been able to put it down. but i have picked up a few more instruments since then. i sing, play bass, drums, clarinet (yes. clarinet.) and some piano.
